Neighborhood Place
Neighborhood Place is a partnership of Louisville Metro agencies and community residents who have come together to deliver services in a new way. The approach requires a unified action plan among different governments, agencies and neighborhood residents. Because agencies are not competing with one another, they are in a position to maximize every resource available to them. The most significant benefit is to the families Neighborhood Place serves. Neighborhood Place works with communities to provide blended and accessible health, education, employment and human services that support children and families in their progress toward self-sufficiency.

Carver Neighborhood Market
If you talk with seniors who lived in South Atlanta their whole life, you’ll hear stories of a time when 4, yes four, groceries stores served the community of South Atlanta. One only had to walk a few blocks to get the food they needed to survive. Fast forward a few decades and the stores of yesteryear are gone. Small grocery stores were replaced by supermarkets across the county. But too often these new supermarkets were located miles from neighborhoods like South Atlanta. We knew by working in South Atlanta since 2001 that access to food was a huge issue. We believe that solving the issue of food access for South Atlantans is critical to returning health and vitality to our community. And so, we started our journey of opening the Carver Neighborhood Market. We’re committed to local! Thanks to support from Common Market & Food Well Alliance, we are able to offer quality and affordable local produce options each season.

The project is sponsored by the City of Detroit, Invest Detroit, and Fifth Third Bank. The Better Block Foundation is an international 501(c)3 nonprofit that educates, equips, and empowers communities and their leaders to reshape and reactivate built environments to promote the growth of healthy and vibrant neighborhoods. Thrive LDN: Greater London Authority
‘Happy to Chat’ or community benches are designed to help combat loneliness and encourage community interaction. Designated benches typically feature a simple sign, which for example could read ‘Sit here if you don’t mind someone stopping to say hello.’ The bench becomes a public asset which anyone can use to take time out of their day to reflect. They provide opportunity to connect with people and perhaps start a conversation about how they are feeling. Thrive LND
Porchfest Ithaca, NY
Porchfest began in 2007, inspired by some outdoor ukulele playing and a conversation between neighbors Gretchen Hildreth and Lesley Greene. They came up with the idea for it that day and gathered 20 bands to make it happen in September of that year. The number of bands has increased every year since then, with 185 in 2016. Porchfest is a music festival held on the porches of the Fall Creek and Northside neighborhoods of Ithaca, NY. Porchfest is free and open for anyone to attend or perform. Performances take place on porches, and in yards and driveways, in a celebration of our vibrant creative community.
